It's so easy to use!

With our Iki brand sauna stove (made in Finland), it's easy to curate your perfect experience with löyly! Löyly refers to the steam that rises when water is thrown onto hot sauna rocks.

Pro Tip: for optimal comfort, follow the "rule of 200". Sauna thermometers show both temperature and humidity. Add those two numbers together, and they should equal roughly 200 to give you a fantastic, detoxifying sweat!

Open intake vent

The little vent directly across from the stove should be open. This is your fresh air intake.

Clear the stove

Be sure to clear out any leftover ash from the previous use. Use the push stick to rake the ash over the grate, so it falls into the ash tray below.

Empty Ash Tray

Pull the ash tray straight out, and dump cold ashes outside, or in a trash receptacle

Replace Ash Tray

During initial heat-up, leave the ash tray slightly open (pulling it out an inch or two). This will allow for more air to reach the fire for a hotter flame.

Load the wood

Place crumpled newspaper in the stove. Stack kindling (i.e. the small pieces) and a couple of logs in the stove.

Ignition!

Ignite the newspaper. There is a lighter in the storage box, in the changing room.

Close stove door

Close the door, and be sure the intake vent knob is pushed all the way to the left (open). After about 30 minutes, check on logs. You’ll probably want to add some, and fill up the stove. The initial heat-up process takes about an hour in total.

Cooling down

Getting too hot, or ready to shut down?

-slide the stove intake vent right, until about halfway shut

- close the bottom ash tray

-If you’re all done, just let it burn itself out. There’s nothing more you need to do!
